French Track

Performance by VOXEL
Featuring Eric Nébié
Two square modules, created by Artelozera and activated by four young choreographers from the Exerce ICI/CCN Montpellier program, sit on the Esplanade de la Musique. Voxel – des modules à habiter par le travail de la danse consists of permeable working spaces in which different warm-up exercises, writing, improvised dance, strolls and performances take place. The human experience and a loss of bearings are essential to these actions. The utilitarian objects that are thus created are deprived of any status as a work of art. In this way, Voxel offers an alternative within the space of the everyday, and positions the viewer as an experimenter.

Eon, eon, eon, eon. Pour Julius Eastman (2019) is a work by Mathieu Kleyebe Abonnenc produced in collaboration with Jean-Christophe Marti, Artistic and Musical Director, and the Opéra Orchestre National Montpellier Occitanie.
On Sunday, June 30, the choir singers and musicians of the Opéra Orchestre National Montpellier Occitanie will perform Thruway (1970), a piece by the African-American composer Julius Eastman, in the Salle Molière of the Opéra Comédie. As a composer, singer, pianist, and black and gay performer, Julius Eastman (1940-1980), holds a unique position in the musical avant-garde of the 1970s and 1980s. They move beyond the minimalist style of the epoch by creating a multiform sound that brings together powerful and energetic rhythms, an open score, and a sense of ritual and mysticism. Gradually rediscovered in the 21st century, their music calls for both a physical and conceptual engagement from its performers.

On the roof of the Corum, Pierre Peres performs Voix des Villes. In this piece, the artist transfers the idea that they originally conceived for a series of videos, Voix des Cimes, in which they sang a mountain range as if it was a musical score, to the urban landscape of Montpellier.

Performance, Jacopo Miliani, Body oh boy nobody ! - MOCO Hôtel des collections
With Jacopo Jenna
In Body oh Boy Nobody!, a dancer moves around the stairs, the entrance hall and the patio of the MOCO. Gradually, the man partially undresses in a slow dance before dressing themselves again and continuing on their walk. Their gestures and movements recall well-known forms and images from art history, yet, presented without music and in a decidedly anti-theatrical context, the performance brings into play the relationship with the public, and creates a space in which seduction, desire and embarrassment can take shape.
